FWAA Welcomes New Executive Director

We are pleased to announce that the Far West Agribusiness Association (FWAA) has selected Margaret Jensen as its new Executive Director. Currently employed as an Agriculture Recruiter for Ag 1 Source, Jensen will start her new position with the FWAA on April 15, 2020.  She succeeds Jim Fitzgerald, who officially retired December 31, 2019, but has stayed on as a consultant through April 2020.

A member of the FWAA for over a decade, Jensen has been an active board member for the past two years and previously worked with both the Scholarship committee and the PAC committee. Along with these leadership positions, Jensen has served several other industry organizations over the years. Her most notable roles include a seat on the Idaho/Eastern Oregon Onion Marketing Order, President of the Washington County Federation of Republican Women, Social Media Chairman of the Idaho Federation of Republican Women, State Committee Woman for the Washington County Republican Central Committee, Precinct Chair for the Washington County Republican Central Committee, and Secretary for the District 9 Republicans. Much of this involvement stems from Jensen’s desire to give back to the communities and organizations that have been so significant to her life and career.

Jensen has nearly 30 years of experience in the vegetable and seed industry, working in research, market development, product development, sales, and product management before becoming a seed and agronomy recruiter with clients across the Pacific Northwest. In addition to her highly-specialized knowledge, Jensen’s international connections have further expanded her understanding of the diverse needs of the global agribusiness industry.  All who have known and worked with Margaret Jensen praise her entrepreneurial mindset and dedication to the agricultural community. This includes Don Kirkwood, President of the FWAA, who recently stated that “Margaret’s enthusiasm and energy are just what the FWAA needs as we move forward in these challenging times. Her passion for the Ag Industry and stellar track record are indicative of the many talents she will bring to the table.”

Jensen holds a bachelor’s degree in Genetics with a minor in Plant Science from UC Davis. She lives with John, her husband of 32 years, in Weiser, ID and has 3 grown children living in Weiser, Boise, ID and Chicago, IL. She will continue to reside between Idaho and Spokane, and her door will always be open.

Please join us in giving a warm welcome and congratulations to Margaret Jensen, the new FWAA Executive Director.
