Far West and Industry members have an opportunity to support a pilot program creating more jobs to fill our transportation needs

The Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration, FMCSA, has opened a comment period through the federal register regarding a pilot program allowing 18-20-year-olds to operate commercial motor vehicles in Interstate commerce. This is a modification to a similar change in July 2018 where those with previous military training could operate commercial motor vehicles in interstate commerce. This pilot program will allow more young people beginning their careers to earn a family wage while contributing to a shortage of available and qualified drivers in both Agriculture and Agribusiness. We encourage you to take a few minutes and make your comments known in the Federal Register.  While there, you can see comments submitted by Far West. The deadline for comments is July 15, 2019

The Federal Register Notice, including how to submit comments, is available here.
